The questions that come up most, and where to go when the answer is not here.
Sixteen Sri Lankan banks are in the picker, with a reference table of 66 credit cards carrying each one's published fees and rates: Commercial Bank, HNB, Sampath, Nations Trust, BOC, NSB, Seylan, NDB, DFCC, Union Bank, Pan Asia, Amana, Cargills, CDB, LOLC and American Express.
Reading a statement is a separate question from listing a bank. Most layouts are read by the built-in parser; a few need the AI step described below. If your bank is in the list and a statement will not read, that is a bug worth telling us about.
No, and it never will. There is no login, no bank password, no open banking connection. It reads statement files you already have — the PDF your bank e-mails you, or one you downloaded yourself.
Only for some banks. The built-in reader works offline and handles most statements. When a layout defeats it — a scanned page, an unusual table — the app can fall back to Google Gemini, and that needs a free key you create in your own Google account.
You can leave it switched off. Statements that need it simply will not import, and the app says so rather than guessing.
They stay on your computer, in a database only you can read. There is no Cardගොඩ account and no Cardගොඩ server. The full detail, including the two cases where something does leave your machine, is in the privacy policy.
No. The app asks for the password once and can remember it in your operating system's keychain — the same place your browser keeps saved passwords. It is never written into the database or a backup file.
If the numbers the app read do not match the totals your bank printed, it refuses to approve the statement rather than showing you a figure it cannot stand behind. That is deliberate and it is not a bug.
Use the report button inside the app on that screen. It sends the version and the page you were on, which is usually enough to find the layout that broke.
Nothing while it is in open beta, and there is no trial clock counting down. It will get a price eventually, and everyone using it during the beta keeps a permanent founder discount. Your start date is already recorded, so there is nothing to claim.
Yes. Back up from one and restore on the other — Back up now gives you your data as JSON and your original statement files as a ZIP. If you connect Google Drive, backups go to a private folder only this app can see.
There is no live sync between machines. Two copies edited separately will diverge.
Yes. It opens, reads, and shows everything offline. Only three things need a connection: the AI fallback for difficult statements, Google Drive backup if you turn it on, and checking for updates.
Because the app is not yet code signed, which is a certificate that costs money every year. The install guide explains exactly what the warning means and how to get past it — including the macOS case where it wrongly says the app is damaged.
No. Everything from the statement layouts to the rupee formatting is built for Sri Lankan cards. A foreign statement will not read, and that is not a bug we plan to fix.
Use the round button at the bottom right of every screen in the app. It sends your note, the app version and which page you were on — no statements and no amounts. That context is usually what makes a bug findable.
Otherwise, the contact page has every route.
